Copywriting, Editing and Content

Clear, professional writing that still sounds like you
Writing is often one of those jobs that looks straightforward until you are staring at a blank page, rewriting the same paragraph for the sixth time or wondering whether what you have written makes sense to anybody else.

You may know exactly what you want to say but need help turning your thoughts into something clear and well structured. You may already have a draft that needs improving, or you may simply want a careful second pair of eyes before an important document is sent or published.

ExecProVA can help at every stage, from the first rough idea to the final check.

Copywriting, Editing and Proofreading Are Not the Same Thing

These services are often grouped together, but they involve different levels of work.
Proof reading and editing

Copywriting

Copywriting involves creating the wording for you.

You provide the purpose, audience, relevant information and any existing material. We then create a structured draft in an appropriate tone for your business.

Editing

Editing improves wording that already exists.

This may involve restructuring the content, removing repetition, improving clarity, rewriting awkward sections and making sure the document flows logically.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final check after the writing and editing have been completed.

We check spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, consistency and obvious typographical errors before the document is used, shared or published.

I will always be clear about which service your work requires. A document that needs substantial rewriting is not a simple proofreading job.

Your content should sound like your business, not as though it has been copied from everybody else’s website.

Support may include:

Website pages
Service descriptions
About pages and professional biographies
Blog articles
Newsletters
Email campaigns
LinkedIn posts
Instagram and Pinterest content
Lead magnets and downloadable guides
Case studies using approved information
Video scripts
Content planning and repurposing
Editing existing marketing material

We can work from a detailed brief, existing notes, a transcript or even a collection of ideas that have not yet been organised into a sensible order.

Editing That Keeps Your Voice

Good editing should improve your writing without removing your personality.

We look at:

Structure and logical flow
Clarity
Repetition
Tone and choice of language
Sentence length
Consistency
Whether the main point is easy to understand
Whether the content suits its intended audience
Whether anything important appears to be missing
Whether the reader knows what should happen next

We will not make a warm and personal piece of writing sound cold and corporate simply for the sake of making it appear more formal.

If something is unclear, unsupported or could be misunderstood, we will flag it rather than quietly guessing what you meant.

Careful Proofreading Before You Publish

When you have worked on a document for a long time, it becomes very easy to read what you intended to write rather than what is actually on the page.

Our proofreading checks can include:

Spelling and grammar
Punctuation
Typographical errors
Capitalisation
Formatting and spacing
Heading styles
Numbering and bullet points
Dates, names and obvious inconsistencies
Repeated or missing words
Consistency of terminology
Cross-references and contents pages
Alignment with an agreed style guide

Proofreading reduces the risk of mistakes, but no responsible proofreader should promise that a document will be completely error-free. We will always carry out the agreed checks carefully and professionally.

Using AI Responsibly

Tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot can help with research, early drafts, restructuring and content repurposing.

However, copying the first AI-generated response onto a website rarely produces good content. It can sound generic, repeat itself, miss important context or confidently present something inaccurate.

Where AI is appropriate, we use it as part of the process rather than treating it as the finished product.

The final work is reviewed by a person for:

Accuracy and unsupported claims
Tone and natural language
Relevance
Repetition
Confidentiality
Suitability for the intended audience
Whether it genuinely sounds like you or your business

We will never knowingly enter confidential or sensitive client information into an unsuitable AI platform.

What We Need From You

To produce useful work, we may need:

The purpose of the document or content
The intended audience
Your main points or source material
Your preferred tone
Relevant facts, names, dates and links
Existing brand or style guidance
Examples of writing that sound like you
The required format
Your deadline
Details of any approval process

You remain responsible for confirming that factual, legal, technical and regulated information is accurate and approved by the appropriate person.

How the Work Is Priced

Smaller writing, editing and proofreading tasks may be completed within an agreed monthly support package.

Larger documents, websites, content projects and substantial editing work will normally be assessed and quoted separately.

The price will depend on:

The type of work required
The length and complexity of the material
The quality of the original draft
The amount of research needed
The required format
The number of agreed review stages
The deadline
Whether specialist knowledge or an associate is required

I will confirm the scope, price and expected timescale before the work begins.

Additional work or revisions outside the agreed scope will not be undertaken or charged without your approval.

Who Will Complete the Work?

Depending on the subject, size and complexity of the project, your work may be completed by me or by a carefully selected ExecProVA associate with the appropriate writing, editing or proofreading experience.

I will always be clear about who is completing the work and who is responsible for reviewing it.

No service will be promised until I have confirmed that we have the right experience, capacity and understanding of the subject.

Need Help Finding the Right Words?

You do not need to arrive with a perfect brief or a finished first draft.

Tell me what you are trying to communicate, who needs to read it and where you are currently stuck. I will ask the necessary questions and tell you honestly whether ExecProVA is the right support for the work.
